{"id":2290,"date":"2026-07-15T11:03:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T11:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/americanhomejournals.com\/?p=2290"},"modified":"2026-07-15T11:03:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T11:03:51","slug":"jamie-dimon-laid-out-what-he-wants-to-see-in-jpmorgans-next-ceo-and-its-a-long-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/americanhomejournals.com\/?p=2290","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Dimon laid out what he wants to see in JPMorgan&#8217;s next CEO \u2014 and it&#8217;s a long list"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<p>JPMorgan&#8217;s next CEO will have to tick a whole lot of boxes to be a worthy successor in Jamie Dimon&#8217;s eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanhomejournals.com\/?p=2288\">Meet the vibe coders who want to be the \u2018MrBeast\u2019 of apps<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dimon, 70, answered a question during the bank&#8217;s second-quarter earnings call on Tuesday about what he and his board are looking for in the company&#8217;s next leader, and what he thinks makes an exceptional CEO.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire banker replied that the person should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be good at management<\/li>\n<li>Be good with people<\/li>\n<li>Be analytical<\/li>\n<li>Be detailed<\/li>\n<li>Be a &#8220;culture carrier&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Be curious<\/li>\n<li>Have heart<\/li>\n<li>Have grit<\/li>\n<li>Have soul<\/li>\n<li>Have work ethic<\/li>\n<li>Be able to travel<\/li>\n<li>Be able to deal with CEOs and prime ministers<\/li>\n<li>Understand and engage with the bank&#8217;s back-office functions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;I could give you a long list of stuff, but it&#8217;s all of that,&#8221; said Dimon, who&#8217;s been running the banking giant for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>He later added that he prizes &#8220;flexibility of mind,&#8221; &#8220;brain power,&#8221; and emotional intelligence, and believes leaders should have &#8220;experience across the company&#8221; so they care about and respect its various divisions.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanhomejournals.com\/?p=2286\">AI data centers are rising across America. Are you one of the workers building them?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lloyd Blankfein, the former CEO of Goldman Sachs, made a similar point in his recent &#8220;Streetwise&#8221; memoir. He said that a recurring concern at the firm was that CEOs picked from its trading side wouldn&#8217;t properly prioritize the investment-banking side, and vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>Dimon, who has no immediate plans to retire, told analysts on the call that JPMorgan has a strong bench ready for his departure, whenever it happens.
