Inside the Ibiza hyperclub where legendary investor Ray Dalio spent his 77th birthday partying until 4 a.m.

Ray Dalio spent his 77th birthday somewhere most 77-year-olds wouldn’t dream of going: an Ibiza nightclub.

The Bridgewater Associates founder, who completed his exit from the firm in 2025 and now runs his own family office, posted on X this week that he’d had “a blast” at mega-club UNVRS with family and friends, and recommended it to his followers “in case you’re in the neighborhood.”

In a video Dalio posted on X, acrobats perform choreographed dance moves while confetti falls from the ceiling, smoke cannons blast into the air, and thumping dance music plays.

Dalio’s birthday fell on August 8, a Saturday, meaning he likely attended a club night called ‘elrow,’ which featured sets by DJs De La Swing and Nic Fanciulli.

On UNVRS’ website, elrow is described as “a psychedelic adventure of epic proportions.”

“Reality warps beyond all recognition as you blast off through a technicoloured wormhole and Enter The WORTEX, a gateway to escape the routine and explore a parallel world where madness is the only rule,” it adds.

Representatives for Dalio did not immediately respond to a request for comment on his birthday outing.

A long history in Ibiza nightlife

UNVRS, pronounced “universe,” opened in San Rafael in May 2025 on a site that has been drawing crowds to the area for decades.

Ku Club, as the venue was called in the 1980s, entertained guests like Grace Jones and James Brown, Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran, and saw Queen front man, Freddie Mercury, perform the song “Barcelona” with Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballé for the first time in 1987.

Renamed Privilege in 1995 after a change of ownership, it spent the 1990s as the defining superclub of the rave era, home to the chaotic weekly event ‘Manumission’ and certified by Guinness as the world’s largest nightclub at 6,500 square meters and a capacity of 10,000 people.

Its license was suspended in 2018, after inspectors found the club had been illegally altered to squeeze in more people. It limped through a partial 2019 season with rooms sealed off, and the pandemic closed it for good.

The site is now owned by the Matutes Group, the Ibiza family business behind the Palladium hotel chain, and run by The Night League, the operating company founded by French nightlife entrepreneur Yann Pissenem. Vanity Fair put the cost of the rebuild at €80 million.

Not just a nightclub but a self-styled “hyperclub,” UNVRS retains its massive 6,500-square-meter footprint and features three interconnected rooms, the iconic dome, and a custom L-Acoustics sound system engineered specifically for the venue.

There are three main spaces. The Main Room is the arena, featuring LED-mapped walls and kinetic lasers.

The Bunker is a smaller, hidden room reached through a mirrored corridor.

And then there is the Wild Comet, a fully equipped micro-club with its own DJ booth and treated acoustics, built into the toilets behind the main floor.

UNVRS topped DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs poll in 2026, after a single full season, which the club says makes it the fastest ever to reach No. 1.

The August 2026 calendar runs seven nights a week and features residencies from some of the biggest names in electronic music.

Dutch legend Tiësto takes the stage on Mondays, while David Guetta plays on Fridays, and Carl Cox hits the decks on Sunday nights.

Guetta saw Dalio’s post on Instagram and invited him to Ushuaia, another Ibiza megaclub, on Monday night. It is not clear if Dalio accepted the invitation.

Prices don’t run cheaply. Standard entry this August ran from 65 euros, around $75, on a Tiësto night to 130 euros, around $150, for David Guetta.

Ticket guides put a beer inside at about $21, and a bottle of water at around $17.
